At last we had an evening that bore a reasonable resemblance to summer, although surprisingly fewer riders than have been competing of late turned up to take advantage of it. Perhaps it was too hot for them for once! The wind was not too strong, so the course seemed a little more "even" all the way round. Star performaces tonight were from the boys riding "Fixed", with Jason setting a Course Best, and Mick Green again taking another large chunk off his previous time. There may be something in this gear-less thing after all! Congratulations to both.

Although the threat of rain was in the air, tonight stayed dry at least until everyone was back in the car park, when normal service was once again resumed! On a fairly quick night, Steve Long sacrificed his usual 10 points to do a 2up with a very brave Mick Green, who battled hard to put in a very good time under the circumstances. This left Rob Thomas, fresh from his first sub-hour 25 on Saturday, to grab his first full points haul with another strong ride, only a handful of seconds behind Team Swift's Andy Plumb. Chris Knight, with the help of a new Disc wheel, posted exactly the same time to be first of the North Notts contingent. Steve P, hampered by an injury to his knee inflicted whilst mountain biking, rode through the pain like a Kazakh in turquoise, to gain 8 points, whilst I missed the opportunity for a possible season's best due to a slipping saddle (I blame my mechanic!). Debutant Michael Adams came in with a fine time for a first effort, and Dean Cornes was unfortunate to miss a PB by just a few seconds. Sean O'Sullivan did manage a PB, despite losing the Planet X back to his dad tonight, who made good use of the Stealth Fighter to take a minute or so off last weeks time! Congratulations to Sean, and commiserations to John of Nottm Clarion, for suffering a problem with his chain that prevented him from finishing. I'm sure he'll be back near the top of the results board next ride.

RESULTS FOR MAPPERLEY CC EVENING TEN TIME TRIAL 12/6/07

Another fast night saw some very good times, with yet again a handful of PBs being achieved. Congratulations in particular to Rob for going under 23 minutes on our course (not noted for being fast) in only his 2nd season of racing, and also to Steve, who is somewhat more experienced, but has posted a very respectable PB on our course with the potential to improve it quite a bit when he hits the fast tarmac! Obviously the new white Mavic stickers, which so perfectly complement his bike, made the difference (although being stuck on the side of a Comete disc may have had some bearing on the matter as well!).
If anybody else riding our events is achieving PBs or CB's without me realising, please let someone in the club know - I'm always happy to publicise it.
